Things That Make You Go Hmmmm....

So Maisie and I went for our weekly Wal-Mart run today and noticed a man on his way out of the store that had purchased 2 items - a 12 pack of Shiner and a giant bag of Depends. Interesting.

Happy Birthday to me!

Well, I am officially another year older; grrrrr! Maxine texted me last just after midnight so she was sure to be the first to wish me a Happy Birthday, Scott says she is such an over achiever, and Hunter told me first thing this morning. I haven't heard from Mom or Dad today; I'm sure they will snap by tomorrow and call then! Mom can never remember when our birthdays are; Bryan always got his cake a day early or a day late! On a typical birthday Lee calls to screech the Happy Birthday song about the time the sun comes up, but she and Wilson have traveled to the land of deliverance so I guess she has forgotten; lucky for my ears! Scott is in Fort Lauderdale for 2 weeks so it is just the little people and me. Amazingly Scott has managed to schedule classes in Fort Lauderdale every spring break for about the last 3 years; if I thought there was any chance someone else would put up with his crap I might be a little suspicious! My friend Cindy came down on Wednesday and left this morning; she came to see Maisie, help out while Scott is gone, and hang out for my birthday. Yesterday we deposited the wee little people off at mom and dad's and headed down to the Island for the day; we had a great time shopping The Strand and even had an adult meal too! So yesterday was my day of relaxing and today it is back to the daily grind! I am spending my official birthday loading and unloading the dishwasher, doing a mountain of laundry, and vacuuming and mopping these filthy floors! I do lead the life of a true princess!

I am not a boy!

Trimmed in pink!

Seriously, how many boys do you
see in leopard print?

Honestly if one more person tells me how "beautiful HE is" or "how cute HE is" I think I may be forced to slap them! I could understand it if she was wearing say a unisex color like yellow or green, but come on people she is dressed in PINK! It is definitely happening on a more frequent basis too; or maybe she is just getting out more than she ever has, not sure which! I guess I am going to have to start taping bows to her head; she certainly doesn't have any hair to attach one to! I saw a onesie the other day and it was white and said in hot pink letters "I am not a boy"; guess I will need to go get her an entire wardrobe of that onesie until she has long flowing hair!

Worthless Beasties!

All 3 of these dogs are completely worthless! I guess the positive aspect about this is that if someone were to bust through the front door they would trip over a dog body before they could ever get to where I was!

Hangin' with my Peeps

This couch isn't big enough for the 3 of us!

This is quite nice, but I really think
I would look better on a pink one!

How does one go about
getting their own couch?

Hunter's "lady friend", Emily (top picture), was over one day and is quite fascinated with Maisie; she has even named one of her baby dolls after her. Anyway, I had sat down to feed Maisie and Emily walked over to "observe" the situation and then told Hunter that Maisie was eating from my tummy. Hunter very quickly and nonchalantly informed Emily "she's not eating from her tummy, she's eating from her boobs". Guess you can't argue with that!

T-Ball Season is Officially Open!

Yesterday was opening day so the season has officially started! It was a might bit chilly out yesterday morning as we all gathered at the sports complex; all of the kids were amazingly still during the opening ceremony, I think they were too cold to move! Maisie wasn't real sure what the hell happened to her; all she knew was she had been sleeping soundly one minute and the next she was out in the cold! I have told Hunter that he owes her big time in later life because she sure spends an awful lot being hauled around for his benefit! Our first game was at 5:00 against the Oakland A's; Scott thinks we won - you know they don't keep score in T-Ball. Maisie and I were in the dugout with all of the little hoodlums; I think I may invest in a vat of crazy glue to keep them in the right batting order on the bench!

Go Team Go, Part Deux!

So it has taken me a while to report on the team mom meeting I attended; I have been very busy with all of my team mom duties since attending said meeting! The people who set the meeting up decided it would be a good idea to have it outside by the pool; probably would have been quite lovely except for the fact that it was 48 degrees out that morning and I, assuming that the meeting would be indoors, showed up wearing capri pant sweat pants and a long sleeved t-shirt; not ideal attire for the weather! Turns out the point of the meeting was to give us our "Team Mom Guide", to discuss concession stand duties (um what?) and hand out a packet containing all of the fundraising forms; if anyone would like a Sienna Youth Baseball League sticker for their car, or a yard sign I will need your completed order forms and checks no later than March 22! The other mom's husband is apparently a computer nerd and has created us our very own website too; he did a really nice job and it looks fantastic, but once again I say only in suburbia does a t-ball team have their own website!
So as I mentioned above the meeting also touched on concession stand duty(nobody mentioned this part); I had a meeting this past Saturday on this part of the job! At this meeting we learned how to make snow cones, nachos, hot dogs, and even how to use the cheese warmer! We also learned how to use the register, there is a softball league this year too which apparently really complicates matters, how to pay the umps, and how you redeem pre-paid snack coupons! Now the beauty of being Team Mom here is that technically I am not supposed to work a concession shift, I just have to make sure that the other moms from the team show up to work it; if they don't show then I get the pleasure! Apparently there has been an issue of people not showing in the past which then made the Board Members have to work it, they don't like this by the way, so now if you don't show your game gets forfeited for the week. The competition is fierce in Little League Baseball so this really hits you right where it hurts!
Opening day is Saturday; we have to be there in uniform by 7:45 for the ceremonies that begin at 8:30. It is apparenty a big to do; there will be hamburgers for lunch, a DJ all day, and those inflatable bouncers. I guess you're supposed to make a day of it; our game is at 5:00 and Hunter of course has a birthday party to attend at 1:00! Ah the life of the over scheduled child!

No Oompa Loompas Here!

I was told by a "friend" at Bunko the other night that Maisie looks to be the color of an Oompa Loompa in my previous post; after looking back I must agree. I just wanted to clarify for those of you who have never met Maisie, she is indeed not the color of an Oompa Loompa in person; that picture was taken as she laid on the changing table which is up against her bright pink walls!
