So it has taken me a while to report on the team mom meeting I attended; I have been very busy with all of my team mom duties since attending said meeting! The people who set the meeting up decided it would be a good idea to have it outside by the pool; probably would have been quite lovely except for the fact that it was 48 degrees out that morning and I, assuming that the meeting would be indoors, showed up wearing capri pant sweat pants and a long sleeved t-shirt; not ideal attire for the weather! Turns out the point of the meeting was to give us our "Team Mom Guide", to discuss concession stand duties (um what?) and hand out a packet containing all of the fundraising forms; if anyone would like a Sienna Youth Baseball League sticker for their car, or a yard sign I will need your completed order forms and checks no later than March 22! The other mom's husband is apparently a computer nerd and has created us our very own website too; he did a really nice job and it looks fantastic, but once again I say only in suburbia does a t-ball team have their own website!
So as I mentioned above the meeting also touched on concession stand duty(nobody mentioned this part); I had a meeting this past Saturday on this part of the job! At this meeting we learned how to make snow cones, nachos, hot dogs, and even how to use the cheese warmer! We also learned how to use the register, there is a softball league this year too which apparently really complicates matters, how to pay the umps, and how you redeem pre-paid snack coupons! Now the beauty of being Team Mom here is that technically I am not supposed to work a concession shift, I just have to make sure that the other moms from the team show up to work it; if they don't show then I get the pleasure! Apparently there has been an issue of people not showing in the past which then made the Board Members have to work it, they don't like this by the way, so now if you don't show your game gets forfeited for the week. The competition is fierce in Little League Baseball so this really hits you right where it hurts!
Opening day is Saturday; we have to be there in uniform by 7:45 for the ceremonies that begin at 8:30. It is apparenty a big to do; there will be hamburgers for lunch, a DJ all day, and those inflatable bouncers. I guess you're supposed to make a day of it; our game is at 5:00 and Hunter of course has a birthday party to attend at 1:00! Ah the life of the over scheduled child!
